Lanolins, Lanolin Fatty Acids and Lanolin Alcohols

Lanolin is prepared by purifying the wool grease that is a byproduct from when sheep wool is finished into wool products.

Lanolin is a pale yellow wax-like substance whose melting point is around 40C, and is a wax ester of higher alcohol and higher fatty acid. In addition to cosmetic and pharmaceutical uses, lanolin derivatives are widely used in many industrial fields in various forms, including as lubricants, textile oil, plastic, concrete, paint, and ink.
