Cosmetic applications
Lanolin cholesterol is a familiar ingredient for cosmetics.
Lanolin is widely used as an ingredient for lipsticks, for gloss, thickness, and as a pigment dispersant.
In skin care applications it contains cholesterol, which is a component of intercellular lipids, and blending it with moisturizing cream improves skin barrier function and keeps skin healthy.
Lanolin fatty acid is the only natural fat containing a branched fatty acid called 18-methyleicosanoic acid [18-MEA]. Blending 18-MEA with hair care cosmetics can keep the hair surface healthy.
Nippon Fine Chemical has proposed lanolin products under the Ecolano™ brand as sustainable materials that are people friendly, sheep friendly, and environment friendly.
